The Two-Legged Experts

The protectors of legacy

Jacques Strauss on horseback

Jacques Strauss

Co-Owner

A young man with a deep appreciation for nature and conservation, Jacques learned early that sustainable conservation cannot exist without ethical hunting. He champions hunting an animal only when it has completed its full life and breeding cycle — observing and protecting an animal for years before honouring it with a good death, rather than the hard fate of old age, starvation or weakness. Preserving the heritage of his roots matters to him as much as preserving the animals he has the privilege to share the bush with.

Friedrich Woest

Friedrich Woest

Co-Owner

Horses and nature are his two greatest passions, and the dream of trekking through central Namibia is one he has built toward his whole life. He shares his partner's beliefs on hunting and conservation whole-heartedly, bringing his love for horses and the old way to life through the practices used in camp. His appreciation for a simpler, purer world — where affection was conveyed in a firm, trustworthy handshake — drives him to make those traditions relevant again, so they are never forgotten. Together — two young friends and their families — they hope to preserve a complete culture worth remembering, as the protectors of legacy.

Heinrich

Heinrich

Horseman

A young local man who grew up in central Namibia. Ask where he comes from and he'll reply, "I come from the veld and the wind." Quick-minded with vast knowledge of the outdoors, he works mostly with the horses — pockets always full of treats for his four-legged friends, who love him with equal affection.

Ellie

Ellie

Camp Boss

Our camp boss keeps our bellies full and our camp in order — without her we are truly lost. Ellie's heritage dates to the original San / Bushman tribes of Namibia, the first true masters of the African bush. She keeps that heritage alive with traditional meals from her ever-burning campfire.

Thomas

Thomas

Rider & Hunter

A true child of Namibia, Thomas grew up in the east where hunting, tracking and outdoor life is the rule, not the exception. His people's reliance on horses as their sole transport makes his knowledge invaluable in camp. A versatile rider and hunter — always friendly, always ready with a smile.

Joseph

Joseph

Master Tracker & Skinner

A child of Namibia's northern regions, Joseph grew up protecting cattle from predators — nature was his school and teacher. He speaks the ancient language of tracks and scuffmarks: where the rest of us see nothing, he reads the whole story of movement across the land. His blade cuts clean and true, keeping fresh meat in camp.

The Four-Legged "Management"

Some just work for carrots

Blue Jeans

Blue Jeans

Lead Mare

A sharp-witted mare with a stride as quick as her mind. Always alert, she often catches the flicker of game on the horizon long before her rider. A natural leader who fears nothing in the wild… save for the gangly silhouette of a giraffe.

Tango

Tango

The Loyal One

The very picture of eagerness, Tango moves in perfect harmony with her rider's pace. Whether spearheading the trail or holding a protective line in the rear, her loyalty is absolute. She thrives on a warm embrace and will carry you through any terrain — provided you guide her with a gentle hand.

Ginger

Ginger

The Kindest Soul

A soft-hearted chestnut, Ginger is perhaps the kindest lady on the trail — an endless appetite for affection and a charming disregard for personal space. Beneath her tender exterior lies a strong-headed spirit and a rock-solid companion for the most demanding hunts.

Apollo

Apollo

The Rock

Our immovable "Rock," Apollo is a gentle giant with a mind as sharp as his stature is grand. A versatile powerhouse, he is as composed under a saddle as he is indomitable packing a heavy load. He has a soft spot for treats and attention, greeting every soul with the quiet friendliness of a true king of the trail.
